Concept designs are a wonderful thing, and they always will be. Not
only do they do good for our own imaginations, but often suggest
creative ways of doing things to product manufacturers as well. That’s
one of the primary reasons they get maximum exposure from tech
blogosphere as well, and that makes certain concept artists really
famous too.
Take Martin Hajek for example, who’s done a remarkable job
of creating realistic renders of upcoming devices in the past, including
those of the iPhone 6. Now, he has something new and fresh for us – his
ima
gination of what the iWatch will end up looking like.
The conceptual renders essentially put both the new iPhone 6 and the
iWatch together in a glory of various color combinations, inspired by
the current iPhone 5s variants of Space Gray, Champagne Gold etc. The
interesting bit is that while the iPhone 6 renders stick closely to the
design schema that we’re almost certain the real iPhone 6 will be
revealed in (thanks to the tons of leaks that have taken place over the
past few months), the iWatch ones are – unusual, at best – since they
make the device look more like a somewhat thicker and smaller iPod nano.
And trust me when I say this, it does not look that good. You don’t, in
fact, have to take our word for it – see the renders in their full
glory below.
As you’d notice, the design of the iWatch seems to borrow heavily
from the iPod lineup as well as the existing Gear series that Samsung
runs. While we do like the pure white look, the overall appeal of the
device lessens if you take into consideration that it resembles
something already out there, and not really the signature Apple style
that we’ve become so addicted to.
That brings us to our second problem with renders. While they offer a
good sneak peak at times, they can also ruin the user experience by
setting false expectations. Of course, this design that has been
showcased here, is purely the artist’s imagination at work, but it can
still lead to making or breaking your expectations from the real deal.
Thus, enjoy the images whilst they are here, but what the iWatch will
end up actually looking like, we will only know when Apple officially
unveils it.
The iPhone 6 and iWatch are expected to be revealed at a special event next week on September 9th. Just a few days more, and we can lay all the concepts and speculations to rest.
